Clothing Swap!

Just a reminder to those of you who live in my county and read my blog (all 3 of you) that this Friday is the Clothing Swap at my house at 10:00 a.m. You don't have to bring anything to participate, but if you have kids clothing or maternity clothing or toys/games/videos that you want to pass on, bring them! It'll be like a free yard sale for mothers of young kids. Anyone is welcome to come and we'll have snacks and some good fellowship! Hope to see you there!
*All the excess clothing will be donated to the nearby crisis pregnancy center or given to the thrift store.*

How does this met out? Obviously if one would want to participate, they would have to bring something as well. But, if person A wants something from person B, but person B doesn't want/need anything from person A, how does that work out?
Sorry, the thought of this intrigues me, but I was trying to figure out how all of that would work itself out. :)

How it works is like a big free yard sale. One gal dropped off 6 huge boxes of like-new, name-brand clothes! Everyone dumps their clothes in a pile, or several piles based on gender and age and anyone takes whatever they want. Someone who doesn't have kids yet but is pregnant may take a garbage bag home after bringing nothing. The gal who brought the 6 boxes is moving and won't be attending or taking any clothes home but she gave. So, it's not a system of trading or "swapping" with equal benefits, but like a big hand-me-down free-for-all! I have TONS of clothes all ready to go so I hope lots of moms show up and take it off my hands!

I LOVE that, then. Perfectly. What a great idea! Thank you for the time to respond. :)

This is SO awesome! I hope I can start something like this where I live, now and in the future.

Before moving overseas, my husband & I gave away about 60% of what we owned, since we couldn't bring it and it didn't make sense to store it all (we do have some things in [free] storage, though) and we knew someone else might be able to use those things. Every time we had friends or acquaintances over, we said, "Here's our free garage sale! Can you use any of these things?!" It gave us a lot of joy, made them happy, and saved them a lot of money. Sure we could've given it all to the thrift store, but we helped the people of God directly.

I have really enjoyed reading your posts, Mrs. Jo, and love your Easter picture. Very lovely & feminine! :)
